I just paid off my auto loan from Hyundai. Great, right?
Except that I made the final payment late, and they charged off the account! I called ahead, and they told me that as long as the final payment was received by a certain date, it would be fine, and they received the payment before that date...but then they charged off the account anyway, and I still have not received my title.
That was a month ago. I have called once or twice a week since then, and the people I speak with seem helpful and understanding, and they tell me that the chargeoff will be reversed, credit agencies notified that I paid the loan in full, and my title released. And here I am a month later, still with no title.
I'm tired of making phone calls, talking to the same people, and hearing the same promises. I paid my loan and am steaming that this may show up on my credit report as a default. What else can I do?
Thanks for your advice.
My auto loan was charged off in error, and I can't get them to fix it!?
I'm with heyteach above. It is only a month and sometimes things move slow in the credit industry. Most reports are quarterly, though some firms report monthly. If they do not rectify the situation in 30-60 days, as heyteach says above gather up all info and would go one step further submit all info to your local attorney general's office, I assure you a letter from the state attorney general will get them moving.
I do however, considering the timeline here, that you are over-worrying, it is only a month. I would stay after them though, calls for the manager, want to speak to the supervisor, etc. When discussing these situations w/supervisors, etc. keep them on the phone as long as possible, never let the conversation deteriorate, to a slur, or anger, keep asking questions %26quot;like sir if you were in my shoes%26quot;, continually probe, and demand politely, I was a credit supervisor, and correcting situations like this got done----for polite, informed, knowledeable consumers. Demanding, or foul language customers usually got hung up on, and some people I know in the industry if you insult them will allow the situation to go untouched. Persistance, polite informative, polite, yet demanding queries will get results, though again, only a month, they probably will get to it. Only thing bothers me that title belongs to you now, and that should be a recognizable fact for those involved to get the situation rectified.......quickly.

Get your facts together, put it in writing, and send it to the Hyundai place in question.
CC at the same time:
your local BBB
and each of the three credit bureaus
(See info by going to THE legit free credit report site:
annualcreditreport.com).
Certify, return receipt requested for the Hyundai place as you need proof you sent that there.
When they see they've created extra work for themselves, this WILL be resolved.
